I ponder sometimes, over the days i lost,
Golden were those days, i want them back at any cost.
I sometimes wonder how time flies so fast,
In my dreams i see my childhood, and wish that it would last.
I see the faces, faint, of the friends I made,
And in my heart, those memories are not willing to fade.
The world was large, and every path was new,
With simple joys i had, and thoughts as pure as dew.
In those days, the sun always seemed bright,
Each morning woke to endless, sweet delight.
Although the days have fled and left me here,
Their golden light still glimmers, bright and clear.
The rain would make the puddles big and round,
I'd splash and jump and make a happy sound.
Now puddles seem so small, and rain feels so cold,
I miss the days badly, when I was six years old.
Why does the sun set faster than before?
Why can't I stay and play just one hour more?
Why do the puddles seem so small and dry?
Why doesn't rain feel magic anymore—why?
Why do my friends all move so far away?
Why can't we laugh and run, just like yesterday?
Why do my shoes feel tighter on my feet?
Why doesn't Mama hold me tight, when we meet?
Why does the night come creeping in so soon?
Why can't I sit and count the stars beneath the moon?
Mom says I'm growing, but I don't see why,
The days just wave and say a quick goodbye.
I'd hide beneath the blanket for hours, with a light,
And read my dear books so late into the night.
I wish I could go back and climb that tree,
The one that scratched my knee but set me free.
And though those days are lost and gone far away,
I'll dream of them again—come what may.....
